Program Teacher and Coordinator

Order of Malta Hong Kong - Horizon Club is looking for a Program Teacher and Coordinator who is:

• Kind, compassionate teacher required for Horizon Club, an after school program in North Point.
• Supporting the Order of Malta Hong Kong Horizon Club.
• Working with primary school children from underprivileged families of the North Point area of Hong Kong Island.

Program Teacher and Coordinator Job Responsibilities:

Learning

• Leading the Horizon Club four evenings per week ( Monday - Thursday 5:30-7pm) and occasion on Friday evening and weekend.
• Overseeing volunteers - Plan daily 'fun' activities( Art/Crafts/Drama/English Reading/Indoor Games/Team Games)

Communication

• Regular Communication with Horizon Club leaders ( updates on children's progression, feedback, worries etc) while working with Social Workers from Caritas
• Attends staff meetings, school programs, and in-service training
• Brief and communicate with volunteers

Safety

• Establishes and maintains a safe and nurturing environment for children
• Keeps the learning environment clean and orderly by picking up learning materials, wiping tables and chairs, etc.

Work Hours & Benefits:

• Work Hours & Benefits: 5 weekdays 1.5 hour in-person sessions at 5:30-7pm from Monday to Friday+3 hours preparation and administrative tasks
• All public holidays + school holidays given
• Participation on some weekends for excursions & trips
• Wages: Negotiable Salary (above MBW)
• Flexible working hours and work from home

Qualifications/Skills:

• International teaching experience or education at International schools
• Emotional maturity and stability
• Work positively with students for the length of scheduled workday
• Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable, and cooperative with a sense of humour
• Ability to take supervision and correction constructively
• Ability to positively supervise aides and other personnel when required
• Ability to work with SEN children and children from troubled backgrounds

Requirements:

• Fluent English and Cantonese,  Mandarin is a plus
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred
• Recent teaching experience preferred
• Child Psychology is appreciated but not a full requirement
• Flexible working hours and work from home
