Term Research Assistant I/II (Civil Engineering)

Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering

Employment Period:

12 months (with the possibility of renewal)

Major Duties:

The appointee shall report to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project and is expected to assist the PI in the development and coordination of research activities and daily operations in relation to the research projects.

He/she will be required to:

(a) assist in the design, implementation and commissioning of IoT solutions for construction sites;
(b) coordinate R&D activities with local institutions;
(c) write project proposals; and
(d) handle ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

For the post of Research Assistant I, applicants should have a recognised Master’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Building Services / Civil Engineering or equivalent, or a recognised degree in related disciplines with relevant work experience; or equivalent.

For the post of Research Assistant II, applicants should have a recognised sub-degree, preferably a recognised degree, in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Building Services / Civil Engineering or relevant disciplines, or equivalent level of study.

Applicants should have a good command of English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.   Work experience in project coordination and/or technical support for customers and/or systems in construction industry will be an advantage.

Notes:

(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at the Tsing Yi Campus.
