Data Engineer (Insurance client)

DB Results is currently looking for a Data Engineer to support one of our insurance clients to advance their Healthcare and Transformation programs. This position involves designing and maintaining scalable, normalized data models and robust pipelines specifically for healthcare data.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, normalized data models (3NF) tailored for healthcare datasets.

• Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and processing information from diverse sources.

• Create and fine-tune database schemas and data structures to support analytics and AI-driven applications.

• Deploy Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR)-compliant data stores and interfaces to enable seamless healthcare data integration.

• Lead data migration initiatives between on-premises systems and cloud platforms.

• Configure and optimize production data processing clusters and pipelines.

• Establish and uphold data governance protocols while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

• Work closely with data scientists to facilitate effective model deployment and serving.

• Deliver technical troubleshooting and support for the data platform as needed.

Qualifications, Training, and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data engineering roles.

• Extensive knowledge of designing normalized (3NF) data models and database schemas.

• Demonstrated experience in handling data ingestion and processing from various heterogeneous sources.

• Proficient in SQL and comprehensive understanding of RDBMS technologies (including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).

• Hands-on experience with NoSQL and other specialized database systems.

• Expertise in ETL/ELT processes, tools, and frameworks.

• Strong grasp of data integration strategies and best practices.

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms, with a preference for Azure and Azure Data Factory.

• Solid software development skills with an emphasis on building and maintaining production-scale systems.

• Knowledge of DevOps methodologies related to data pipeline deployment and management.

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

   

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with FHIR standards and healthcare-specific data models.

• Experience with platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake.

• Background in data migration, particularly involving cloud transitions.

• Understanding of the healthcare or insurance industries.

• Expertise in cluster optimization and performance enhancement.

• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and associated tools.

• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure.

• Software engineering experience with ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA).

• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies.
