Research Assistant (Project Support)

Responsibilities 

The Research Assistant(s) will be involved in multiple research programs and projects of the Center. He/she will provide research services and logistics support to the research and development teams and keep close connections with Project Investigators (PIs)/ faculties/ PhD students/ or Research staffs on different project matters.  He/she is required to station at the Hong Kong Science Park, with occasional business travels to the HKUST Clear Water Bay Campus and other collaborating Universities of the Center when needed. The position is recruited under the scheme of Research Talent Hub (RTH) of Innovation Technology Commissioner.  The key responsibilities include: -

• Assist the Executive Director in managing and monitoring the Center's R&D project progress and activities to ensure milestones and objectives are met;
• Understand and gather project information to assist R&D project supervisor(s) and leader(s) in feasibility study, consolidating regular technical reports, preparing presentation, demonstration and project promotion materials as well allocating resources for efficient delivery of project outcomes;
• Assist R&D project supervisor(s) and leader(s) in managing the R&D equipment, tape-out, prototypes, etc., from planning, procurement, to daily management.
• Coordinate and setup regular and ad hoc research and R&D project meetings with cross-functional teams, departments of HKUST, collaborating Universities, industry partner, and various stakeholders;
• Maintain full records of projects for research groups and R&D teams by adopting a proper filing system; carry out ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Applicants should have a bachelor's or a master's degree of a STEM (i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)-related discipline awarded by a local university, or jointly awarded by a local university together with a non-local university; and with relevant experience in project management.  He/she must be legally permitted to work in Hong Kong.  The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills with great sense of responsibility, ability to multi-task and work independently, and proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.

Terms of Appointment

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
