Job Description
The Department is a leading intellectual center for computer science research with a group of committed faculty with demonstrated excellence in scholarship and teaching. HKUST provides a supportive teaching environment, strong teaching support staff, and leading-edge facilities. Courses are conducted in English.
The Department invites applications for a teaching-track faculty position at Lecturer level on a renewable contract basis in the area of computer science commencing February 2025. The appointee will play an important role in the development and teaching of computer science courses at undergraduate level. Besides general computer science courses, we are offering courses on Android/mobile software development, web programming, Python programming, algorithm, data structure, discrete mathematics, artificial intelligence and computer architecture. Ability to teach these courses would be an advantage. The appointee is also expected to participate in service related matters (e.g. interviewing student applicants and academic counseling). Candidates should have a PhD degree in computer science from a reputable university, and preferably with demonstrated capacity for excellent teaching at tertiary level or elsewhere. Candidates with outstanding performance may be considered for a 2-year contract and/or the title of Assistant Professor of Engineering Education at the time of contract renewal. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon completion of a 1-year contract for appointment at Lecturer I rank.
