Job Description

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES OFFICE

Senior Specialist (Systems Infrastructure) (Ref. 240328001-IE)

Duties

The appointee will work in the Systems Infrastructure Services Section and be required to:

(a) carry out support and development works for container deployment infrastructure and lifecycle by using open source software of kubernetes cluster, source code management (e.g. GitLab) and CICD tools (e.g. Jenkin);

(b) carry out development, optimisation and enhancement works on various infrastructure such as AI Infrastructure and University Computing Infrastructure;

(c) carry out support and development works for various IT automation tasks with open source software including Ansible;

(d) perform administrative and technical duties for different hypervisors such as KVM and Hyper-V environment;

(e) explore the latest IT developments and infrastructures to enhance service availability and reliability;

(f) handle incidents, user requests, system administrative works and trouble-shooting jobs;

(g) apply system and application patches, and develop scripts for task automation and monitoring;

(h) provide after-office-hour standby/emergency support duties as and when required; and

(i) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline;

(b) at least five years’ relevant working experience;

(c) knowledge of Linux operating system, Microsoft Windows Server, computing cluster architecture and programming skills including Bash, Powershell and Python;

(d) strong analytical skills with good interpersonal and communication skills; and

(e) the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.

Preference will be given to those with experience in development of Powershell and Python.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
