Information Technology Services Office (ITSO) is responsible for developing and managing the IT infrastructure of the University, and championing the wise use of IT for learning, research and administration activities.
The Cybersecurity team oversees the advancement of cybersecurity maturity of HKUST. We are looking for a high-caliber individual who is interested in joining this rapidly changing IT sector. The appointee should possess strong technical skills in information security technologies including system hardening, identity and access management, data encryption, intrusion and malware detection, security monitoring, vulnerability management, log management and security analytics, as well as with sound knowledge in networking and system administration.
The appointee will report to the Head of Cybersecurity team, and will be responsible for developing security policy, implementing security standards and guidelines, and promoting user awareness. The appointee will be required to: (a) design and implement network and server security infrastructure; (b) conduct risk assessment; (c) oversee security compliance; (d) manage security incident response handling and related analytics; (e) implement Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) for prevention and early detection of malicious cyber activities; (f) liaise and partner with departmental Cybersecurity Coordinators (CSC) in enforcing IT security; and (g) promote general cybersecurity awareness.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or equivalent with at least 5 years' relevant work experience, preferably with recognized IT security certification (like CISSP and CISA). Knowledge in AI and cloud technology, particularly Azure, will be an added advantage. Applicants should have strong technical skills, good logical reasoning to identify weakness, and be meticulous to details in forensic analysis. Excellent communication skills are essential, as applicants will need to convey complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. They are expected to possess supervisory skills and solid project management experience. Besides, they should be able to work under pressure and act as a good team player with a self-initiative attitude.
Opportunities will be offered to attend widely recognized security training and meet industry experts. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
