Merchandising Manager

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Product Portfolio

Build category strategies; supplier allocation, development schedule, pricing to hit financial targets.

Product Development

• Own NPD from concept to mass production using a stage-gate approach.
• Align with Engineering (EE/ME/FW), Industrial Design, Quality, and Packaging.
• Drive and schedule DFM/DFT, tooling readiness, pilot builds, golden sample sign-off, and costed BOM approval.
• Coordinate compliance/certifications (e.g., CE, FCC, UL/ETL, RoHS/REACH) and reliability/safety testing with quality department.
• Manage ECR/ECO change control, timelines, risks, and cross-functional checkpoints; track issues to closure.
• For connected products, align with app/firmware teams on features, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi modules, and OTA readiness.

Supplier Management & Negotiation

• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers to secure the best cost, terms, quality, and capacity.
• Negotiate commercial terms including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and warranty/service agreements.
• Manage and maintain supplier contracts — ensuring terms and conditions are up to date, enforceable, and aligned with company policies.
• Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and drive supplier performance improvement initiatives.

Market & Trend Insights

Analyze competitors, tech trends, and consumer insights to guide roadmap, specs, pricing, and launch timing.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Hub and coordinator for across time zones with category management, marketing, quality, and engineering functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related.
• 8–10+ years in merchandising/sourcing/product management within electrical appliances or consumer electronics, including hands-on NPD ownership.
• Proven supplier negotiation, cost/BOM management, and category P&L delivery.
• Familiar with EVT/DVT/PVT, DFM, reliability testing, AQL/quality gates; knowledge of CE/FCC/UL and RoHS/REACH.
• Strong analytics and project management; English required, Cantonese/Mandarin a plus.
• Willing to travel regionally/internationally.
