The English Schools Foundation (ESF), Hong Kong's largest international English-medium school organisation with over 2000 staff members across 22 schools, is seeking to appoint a Specialist, Website Design & Development at ESF Centre, the head office located in Tai Koo, Quarry Bay. This position will contribute towards exciting projects underway and offers the opportunity to contribute to the education industry!

You will join a team of developers and researchers working on an innovative project that combines psychological research and AI agents in educational settings. The result of the project will be an autonomous AI system that can leverage the expertise of human experts. We are working on an MVP (minimal viable product) of what is projected to become a much bigger project, potentially going beyond education to other industries. The job is in the ESF Centre, but the project sits outside the daily operations, so the team will be entirely focused on creating and testing the new product. You will work with several other full-time developers as well as a number of external research consultants

The successful candidate will be offered a 2-year, full-time contract which will be renewable by mutual consent.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the front end of an interactive application
  • Collaborate with backend developers to ensure seamless integration
  • Facilitate application features such as interactive elements, including a conversational agent
  • Support the visualisation of network (graph) data in the application

Requirements

Required Competencies:

  • University graduate
  • Minimum 2 years of IT application development experience
  • Web application development experience using a modern interactive framework such as React / Angular / Vue.js, Node.js
  • Knowledge of data visualisation applications such as dashboards or visualisation of networks using D3.js
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • Experience in CSS frameworks such as Tailwind / Bootstrap and developing responsive web applications.
  • Project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Effective team communication

Desirable Competencies:

  • Experience in Git, Docker, and cloud platforms is preferred
  • Has experience developing the frontend of applications that communicate to the backend through API (RESTful API, GraphQL)
  • Server-side JavaScript development using Node.js
