We are seeking a Part-Time Chinese Debate Coach to inspire the next generation of communicators and critical thinkers at our secondary school. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced coach to build a successful debate program from the ground up, guiding students from their first steps in debate to competing at a high level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Core Skills: Instruct students on the fundamentals of Chinese debate, including persuasive argumentation, logical reasoning, and effective public speaking
  • Mentor Future Champions: Provide targeted, advanced coaching and strategic feedback to our tournament-level debaters, helping them refine their skills and achieve competitive success
  • Cultivate Research Abilities: Guide students in researching a wide range of current events and complex topics to build well-supported and compelling arguments
  • Foster a Positive Environment: Create a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere that encourages students to grow in confidence and hone their abilities

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a competitor or coach in Chinese debate
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to effectively connect with and motivate secondary school students
  • A strong passion for teaching and a commitment to student growth
  • Cultivate Research Abilities: Guide students in researching a wide range of current events and complex topics to build well-supported and compelling arguments
  • Foster a Positive Environment: Create a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere that encourages students to grow in confidence and hone their abilities
