The appointee will be responsible for project management of capital works projects, alterations, additions & improvement (AA&I) projects as well as other minor works and maintenance works on the University campus and other venues managed by the University for ensuring the projects are delivered within budget, in a timely, quality and safe manner. He/She will lead a team of maintenance staff to oversee ad hoc repairs, planned maintenance works and operations of the building services systems of all buildings, and provide professional support and services to events held by the University. He/She should be familiar with different forms of term contracts and able to manage different specialist contractors efficiently. He/She will also be responsible for implementing sustainability projects and promoting sustainable practices across campus to foster a culture of sustainability within the University, improving the campus environment to promote healthy campus, enhancing the reliability and energy efficiency of essential infrastructural services and systems, and implementing different environmental practices according to the policies established by the University. He/she is also required to prepare proposals with indicative budget estimation for the modification works and improvement projects; liaise with government departments, project stakeholders and end-users in all matters and incorporate their requirements into the planning and design of the projects; manage and evaluate the design/technical proposals of the consultants and supervise the performance of consultants, contractors and other related parties; monitor project progress, ensure standard of workmanship, exercise cost and expenditure control, etc. for the smooth implementation of the works; maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental standards of the campus during project implementation; travel outside of Hong Kong and undertake work as assigned by the University, where necessary; and perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Applicants should have a recognized degree in Building Services Engineering or related disciplines plus relevant professional qualifications with relevant substantial post-qualification experience of which at least 8 years’ in the administration and implementation of both major capital works contracts and term contracts, preferably in a local tertiary institution or a government-funded organization; be highly self-motivated and able to work under pressure; strong leadership and supervisory skills; strong competence of working independently and be able to work with internal and external stakeholders of the University at all levels; strong planning, organization and interpersonal skills with good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese; possession of sound experience in handling term contracts for minor or maintenance works, facilities management as well as Government funded / subvented major and minor capital works projects is a strong advantage. Shortlisted candidates may be required to sit for a written test.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 15% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits, and, where applicable, housing benefits. The appointee will hold a substantive rank of Project and Facility Manager in the University.
