English Debate Coach (Part-time) – Department of English

The University now invites application for the Project “Establishment of the HSUHK English Debate Team”, funded by the Teaching Development Grant:

English Debate Coach (Part-time) – Department of English (Ref: PTCoach (ENG) 2024-03-15)

Responsibilities: 

• offer regular training sessions to undergraduate students;
• develop students’ critical thinking, speech writing, and a wide range of communication skills; and
• prepare students to participate in internal and external English public speaking competitions.

Applicants should:

• possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in English, Communications or related disciplines;
• have experience in coaching and adjudicating university students in English debates; 
• have excellent English written and oral communication skills; 
• preferably have strong network with other university debate teams; and
• be familiar with local, regional, and international debating competitions, e.g., competition formats and regulations, and opportunities. Applicants with work experience in the tertiary education sector will be an advantage.
