Engineer / Programmer (Backend / Systems & DevOps) CPII2025-015

Job Description

The successful candidate will join Centre for Perceptual and Interactive Intelligence (CPII) Limited to support backend and infrastructure development of AI-driven applications. The role combines backend engineering and foundational DevOps skills, ensuring scalable, reliable, and well-documented systems for product deployment.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for AI applications
• Manage and optimize relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Contribute to system design and implementation of scalable architectures
• Dockerize applications and manage containerized deployments
• Implement basic DevOps workflows including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and system monitoring
• Collaborate with frontend developers, AI researchers, and project managers to deliver full-stack solutions
• Use AI tools (e.g., code generation, automation) effectively while critically evaluating their limitations
• Ensure backend systems are well-documented, maintainable, and secure

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines
• Solid experience in backend development and system design
• Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with RESTful / GraphQL API development
• Proficiency in Docker and container orchestration (e.g., Docker Compose, Kubernetes basics a plus)
• Familiarity with DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and system monitoring tools
• Good coding, debugging, and documentation skills
• Self-motivated, independent, proactive, and collaborative team player
• Ability to leverage AI tools responsibly to improve development efficiency
• Candidate with less experience will be considered as Junior Programmer (Fresh grads are welcome)
