Warehouse Operations Manager (Hazardous Chemicals)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our warehouses, including facilities in China and the Southeast Asian market. This role involves managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers, optimizing warehouse operations, and ensuring timely delivery schedules to meet the needs of our chemical trading supply chain. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in international logistics and warehouse management, and a proven track record of improving operational efficiency in overseas markets. Experience in handling chemical goods and ensuring compliance with hazardous material regulations is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Management:

   • Oversee the operations of multiple warehouses, including international facilities in China and Southeast Asia.
   • Monitor and manage third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.
   • Develop and implement strategies to improve warehouse efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity, with a special focus on the unique dynamics of overseas operations.

2. Chemical Goods Management:

   • Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of chemical goods in compliance with local and international hazardous material regulations (e.g., OSHA, REACH, GHS).
   • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and ensure all warehouse staff are trained in the safe handling of chemicals.
   • Implement and monitor safety protocols to prevent spills, contamination, and accidents related to chemical storage and handling.
   • Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to import/export regulations for chemical products.

3. Delivery & Distribution Coordination:

   • Plan and schedule delivery timelines to ensure on-time distribution of products to customers and other facilities.
   • Coordinate with transportation providers to optimize delivery routes, reduce transit times, and improve cost efficiency, particularly in China and Southeast Asian markets.

4. Inventory Control:

   • Ensure accurate inventory levels by implementing and overseeing inventory management systems.
   • Conduct regular audits to minimize stock discrepancies and ensure all records are up to date, including those for overseas warehouses.
   • Implement specialized inventory tracking for hazardous chemicals to ensure compliance with legal storage limits and expiration dates.

5. 3PL Operations Management:

   • Collaborate with local teams and 3PL providers in China and Southeast Asia to address region-specific challenges and opportunities.
   • Stay updated on local regulations, customs processes, and market trends to ensure seamless operations in international markets.

6. Compliance & Safety:

   • Ensure all warehouse operations comply with local, national, and international regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards for chemical goods.
   • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain safe and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers and working with international logistics, specifically in China and Southeast Asia, is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in handling chemical goods and hazardous materials (certifications such as HAZMAT, DG Handling, or equivalent are preferred).

• Skills/Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems (e.g., WMS, ERP) and logistics software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping, customs regulations, and import/export processes in China and Southeast Asia.
  • Familiarity with chemical safety standards such as GHS, REACH, and OSHA regulations.
