Entry Requirements:
Applicants should –
(a) be Corporate Members of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (“HKIE”) (Civil Discipline) elected after 5 December 1975, or equivalent (Notes 1 and 2);
(b) have met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 3’ (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (“HKCEE”), or equivalent;(c) have good command of oral and written Chinese and English; and
(d) have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Your application will NOT be considered if you fail to meet any of the entry
requirements (a) to (c) by the closing date for application. Invitation to
interview/test does not imply that you have met the entry requirements.
Duties:
Successful candidates will be deployed to offices in the fill banks or construction waste sorting facilities in Tseung Kwan O Area 137 and Tuen Mun Area 38 to undertake the following duties (Notes 4 and 5) –
(a) to assist managing the contractor’s works and monitoring the progress;
(b) to review the overall site safety and environmental issues for the operations on site;
(c) to study and implement site safety and environmental enhancement measures for the relevant operations; and
(d) to perform any other duties as assigned.
Note:
(1) In order to meet the entry requirement (a), applicants holding non-local professional qualifications only should prove the equivalency of such qualifications by the closing date for application, with supporting documents such as evidence of acceptance of their qualifications by the HKIE for admission to its Corporate Membership (Civil Discipline). They should submit copies of the supporting documents by mail to the enquiry address.
(2) Successful candidates should possess the professional qualifications meeting the entry requirement (a) during the entire period of employment.
(3) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(4) Successful candidates may be required to work irregular hours and on public holidays.
(5) Successful candidates may be required to perform outdoor duties.
Fringe Benefits:
A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the employer’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund (“MPF”) Scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. The benefits in respect of rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), annual leave, maternity/paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance and confirmed at the time of the offer of appointment.
