TITLE: PLANNING MANAGER
JOB OVERVIEW
The Planning Manager is responsible in maximizing sales and profitability by developing and delivering accurate financial and inventory plans. The focus of this role is on plans, projections and financial analysis, the identification of risks and opportunities as well as action plans for mitigating risks and optimizing opportunities.
ROLE PRIORITIES:
- Drive the business through pre-season planning, in-season forecasting, stock management, and insightful analysis, to maximize sales and optimize inventory for Retail and Ecommerce
- Work with cross functional partners to translate business strategies into plans
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate across multiple functions including Buying, Finance, Retail and Ecommerce to develop and execute a comprehensive product and inventory strategy that aligns future financial and product opportunities.
- Using historical and current trends, driving the business through pre-season planning, in-season forecasting, stock management, OTB management and insightful analysis, to maximize sales and optimize inventory.
- Develop seasonal location plans through analysis of historical performance by door/delivery/classification level that support the company’s financial and inventory goals
- Partner with cross departments to run scenarios, identify and capitalize on new opportunities, mitigating risk, and propose creative ideas to drive sales while maintaining profitability
- Develop deep understanding of company systems and reporting processes, working collaboratively with IT and end-users to identify areas of opportunity and streamline cross-departmental reporting.
- Publish weekly and ad hoc business reporting and provide expert analysis on trends and recommendations.
- Effectively influence beyond direct reporting lines; build collaborative business partnerships across multiple functions
- Partner with buying, retail and marketing teams on markdown cadence and strategy for Off-Price business
QUALIFICTIONS AND SKILLS
- 3+ years’ sales and inventory planning and forecasting experience in retail industry. Fashion and luxury goods industry experience is a plus.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills that leverage quantitative and qualitative data
- Proficiency in analyzing/interpreting large amounts of data with the ability to synthesize findings into clear, easy to understand, effective and actionable insights.
- Ability to clearly and concisely identify and summarize complex problems or issues, as well as identify and implement solutions.
- Flexible and adaptable; ability to handle multiple tasks and switch priorities/focuses as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
- Ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional business partners through strong communication and interpersonal skills.
