Our commodity trading team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Shipping Officer to join us. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing tramp shipping operations, handling payments and claims, and managing our records database. This role requires proficiency in Excel formulas and formatting, excellent organizational skills, numerical methods, workflow management, the ability to work under pressure, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and implement a digital transformation strategy tailored to the marine fuel supply and shipping industry.
• Drive cultural change to foster digital adoption across global offices and operational teams.
• Act as a thought leader on maritime technology trends, including digital bunkering and smart shipping.

Industry-Specific Priorities

• Digital Bunkering Solutions: Implement platforms for e-bunkering, electronic documentation, and real-time transaction tracking.

• Supply Chain Visibility: Introduce digital solutions for end-to-end transparency in fuel procurement, storage, and delivery.

• Customer Experience: Develop digital portals for clients to manage orders, track deliveries, and access invoices seamlessly.

Technology & Innovation

• Oversee implementation of ERP, CRM, and maritime-specific digital platforms.
• Integrate IoT and sensor-based technologies for real-time fuel quality and quantity monitoring.
• Ensure cybersecurity and data protection across global operations.

Data & Analytics

• Establish data governance frameworks and leverage analytics for operational insights.
• Use predictive analytics for demand forecasting and inventory optimization.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize digital initiatives.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate technology partnerships with maritime tech providers.

Performance & ROI

• Define KPIs for digital projects (e.g., reduction in operational costs, improved turnaround time).

• Deliver measurable business outcomes through digital investments.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in digital transformation, IT strategy, or technology leadership.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale digital projects in energy, shipping, or logistics sectors.
• Strong knowledge of maritime operations, bunkering processes, and compliance standards.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
