Database Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full lifecycle of the company’s database infrastructure, from design and deployment to ongoing administration and support.

• Conduct diagnostics, root-cause analysis; issue resolution to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.

• Support the setup and infrastructure needs of new business unit development initiatives.

• Serve as a key member of the database team, responsible for the availability, capacity planning and 24/7 support of the company’s database systems.

• Perform regular maintenance tasks including system troubleshooting, performance tuning and optimization.

• Manage database server installation, patching and upgrades in accordance with best practices.

• Generate performance reports and documentation as guided by internal standards.

• Contribute to the implementation of database solutions for enterprise business applications.

• Ensure database environments adhere to compliance, governance and security requirements.

• Manage service levels and ensure system availability targets are met while proactively handling incidents.

• Deliver IT projects and provide operational support across multiple business units.

• Maintain adherence to IT risk management frameworks and security policies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.

• Over 2 years of hands-on database administration experience in a mid-to-large scale enterprise environment.

• Preferred certifications include OCP, MCSE (Database Platform) and cloud-based database credentials.

• Proven experience (2+ years) in administering Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.

• Familiarity with cloud database platforms and technologies is an advantage.

• Proficient in database setup, performance monitoring and tuning, backup and recovery, data replication and encryption.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a proactive mindset.

• Effective communicator, capable of interacting with internal teams and external vendors across all levels.

• Self-motivated, independent and eager to embrace challenges in a fast-paced IT environment.

• Fluent in written English and Chinese.

• Passionate about continuous learning and staying updated with evolving IT technologies.
