Contract Programmer - Java, Unix shell scripts

Project Nature:

• The proposed staff shall be responsible for In-house system development work including user requirement study, system analysis, programming, testing, end-user support/training; Provision of system maintenance and support to IT systems; and coordination with outsourcing contractors and acceptance of their project deliverables.

Responsibilities:

• Serve a contract assignment under InfoTech's headcount, full-time second to serve the LCSD;

• Carry out system development activities of system development lifecycle to collect user requirements, analyze system functions, develop and maintain system, conduct testing and data conversion, provide end-user support/training and perform system documentation;

• Provide on-going support to IT systems and implement system enhancements upon user requests;

• Co-ordinate users and stakeholders of projects and/or systems assigned;

• Assist in reviewing and accepting outsourcing contractors' deliverables, if needed;

• Perform in-house system development work assigned;

• Provide on-call support for urgent production system incidents during non-office hours; and

• Undertake any other duties assigned by supervisors.

   

Requirements:

• Have a Higher Diploma / accredited associate degree / Bachelor degree or above in Information Technology / Computer Science or related discipline;

• Must have experience in JAVA and Structured Query Language (SQL);

• At least 2 years' experience in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS and jQuery;

• At least 2 years' experience in JAVA Programming;

• At least 2 years' experience in SQL;

• Knowledge on JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as Node.js, Express.js, ReactJS and Next.js is an advantage;

• Good command of both English and Chinese (written and spoken);

• Good communication skills; and Good interpersonal and analytical skills.

Technical Skills:

• At least 2 years' experience in IT Application Development and Management (ADM);

• At least 2 years' experience in J2EE Development (JDE);

• At least 2 years' experience in Structured Query Language (SQL);

• At least 2 years' experience in Web Programming (WEB);

• At least 1 year's experience in UNIX (UNX).

Non-technical Skills:

• 1 year's experience in work with the Government (GOV) is an advantage.

• Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma in Computer Science, IT or equivalent;

• At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in which at least 1 year's relevant experience in a similar post and in a comparable capacity.
