Position: Business Development & Special Projects Lead (Full Time)
Location: Hong Kong (with occasional travel within Asia / GBA and mainland China)
Position Overview
The Business Development & Special Projects Lead plays a key role in driving client engagement, project acquisition, and cross-border collaboration. The role requires extensive experience working directly with galleries, artists, institutions, and art fairs, as well as the ability to navigate the cultural and operational landscapes of Hong Kong, the GBA, Mainland China, and the wider Asia region.
The ideal candidate combines deep art industry knowledge, strong regional network-building capability, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience managing cultural projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with clients like art galleries, museums, institutions, collectors, and cultural organisations across Hong Kong, the GBA, Mainland China, and international markets.
- Identify new business opportunities across logistics, storage, fabrication, conservation, and project-based services.
- Develop tailored narratives and value propositions for different client segments to support strategic business development.
- Represent Eythos at external meetings, art fairs, industry events, and cross-regional collaboration initiatives.
- Oversee complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving international artists, institutions, and production partners.
- Coordinate with fabricators, conservators, logistics teams, and external contractors to ensure timely, high-quality project execution.
- Lead or support large-scale cultural initiatives, installations, and events requiring both art world fluency and strong operational capability.
- Contribute to organisational development, market positioning, and long-term strategic planning.
- Work closely with management to streamline client communication, workflows, and service structures.
- Support marketing, content development, and Chinese-language communications.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in the art industry, such as galleries, museums, associations, or similar cultural organisations.
- Proven experience liaising directly with artists, art fairs, curators, collectors, and museum teams.
- Strong knowledge of art production, storage, and logistics.
- Hands-on experience managing exhibitions, art fair booths, installations, and cross-border logistics coordination.
- A well-developed professional network within the contemporary art ecosystem in Hong Kong, the GBA, Mainland China, and international markets.
- Experience representing organisations in strategic partnerships, sponsorship negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to contextualise projects and articulate value propositions for client acquisition.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; native or fluent Cantonese and Mandarin strongly preferred. Additional languages are an advantage.
- Ability to communicate effectively across cultural contexts and support clients navigating Hong Kong–Mainland administrative workflows.
- Proven track record leading multi-party collaborations involving artists, galleries, institutions, and production teams.
- Strong content development, translation, writing, and research skills.
- Proficiency in Mac/Windows systems, art management databases, and commonly used digital applications.
