The Hong Kong Branch of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) (hereinafter referred to as "the Hong Kong Branch") has been established at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) through the joint efforts of HKUST, the Guangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Committee, Innovation Academy for South China Sea Ecology and Environmental Engineering, the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Hong Kong Branch aims to consolidate the expertise of Hong Kong's marine science and technology talents, enabling their active participation in regional and national initiatives within the Greater Bay Area, while fostering close collaboration with the Laboratory.
The Hong Kong Branch is going to hire an officer who is responsible to:
- Provide daily operational support to the Branch office;
- Coordinate various events/activities, for example, summits, outreach activities, workshops, meetings and exhibitions;
- Liaise closely with other departments/units and related external parties in Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area;
- Monitor the process of project administration, accounts, quotations and payment of bills;
- Draft related reports and assessments of the project;
- Provide secretarial services to committees and working groups; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director or his/her delegates.
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant working experience or a master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant working experience. Prior exposure to project, event or operations management will be desirable. Ideal candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills. He/She should be able to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and possess a mindset for continuous improvement. Essential qualifications include proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), strong MS Office skills, meticulousness, self-motivation, the capacity to work both independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines, along with strong interpretive, troubleshooting, and interpersonal abilities, and a firm sense of responsibility. The appointee may need to work outside office hours. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
