Watch Authenticator/ Technician

Overview:
Vintage Grail HK is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Watch Authenticator/Technician to ensure the authenticity and quality of our incoming luxury watch inventory. This critical role involves thoroughly inspecting and authenticating luxury watches from various high-end brands, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of our stock management system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Authentication Expertise:

  • Perform through authentication of luxury watches, including but not limited to Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, etc.
  • Utilize your in-depth knowledge of each brand’s unique characteristics, movements, and production techniques to accurately verify authenticity.
  • Examine all accessories, papers, cards, boxes, watch pins, etc., to ensure they match the corresponding watch model and are authenticated.

• Physical Inspection:

  • Conduct detailed physical inspections of watches to assess their condition, identifying any signs of tampering, repairs, non-original components, or modifications.
  • Utilize magnification tools and other equipment to examine intricate details of the watches.

• Documentation Onboarding:

  • Accurately document all inspection findings, authentication results, and watch condition in our internal system.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure smooth and accurate onboarding of new watches into our stock management system.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all checks and verification processes, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.

• Market Awareness:

  • Stay current with market trends, emerging counterfeit techniques, and new releases from top luxury watch brands.
  • Attend industry events and training sessions to enhance authentication skills and knowledge.

• Quality Control:

  Assist in maintaining Vintage Grail HK’s standards for quality and authenticity, advising on best practices for watch handling and storage. Contribute to refining and improving authentication processes and protocols.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in handling and inspecting multi-brand luxury watches within a branded retail store or a credentialed organization in the watch industry.
• Experience working in an auction house, watch repair centre, or with watch brands is highly desirable.

• Excellent knowledge of watch construction, movements, and components.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to detect even subtle inconsistencies or alterations.
• Proficiency in using authentication tools and software.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Languages: Required: English. Preferred: Cantonese and/or Mandarin
