Unix Administrator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Unix Engineer to lead and support critical storage migration projects across enterprise Unix platforms including IBM AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Oracle Solaris. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in Unix system administration, storage architecture, and migration procedures, particularly in high-availability and database-heavy environments such as PowerHA clusters / Oracle RAC deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and execute storage migration activities with minimal impact to business operations.

• Analyze existing Unix systems to identify volume groups, mount points, multipath configurations, and application dependencies.

• Perform disk and LUN migrations involving SAN storage (e.g., IBM VIO, EMC, HPE, Huawei Dorado).

• Coordinate and validate data consistency and integrity before and after migration.

• Work closely with DBAs and application owners to ensure seamless migration of Oracle RAC environments.

• Administer and troubleshoot AIX, Linux, and Solaris operating systems during all phases of the project.

• Ensure cluster stability and proper failover behavior in PowerHA environments during and after storage transition.

• Document migration plans, rollback strategies, and final configurations.

• Provide on-call or after-hours support during migration cutovers as required.

• Collaborate with storage teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to meet migration timelines and requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in Unix system administration (AIX, Linux, Solaris) with strong command-line and scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python).

• Solid understanding of LVM, disk management, multipath I/O, and storage connectivity (FC, NPIV, etc.).

• Hands-on experience with AIX on IBM Power Systems including VIO server and LPARs.

• Experience with PowerHA SystemMirror setup, testing, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with Oracle RAC environments and their dependencies on shared storage and network.

• Experience in enterprise storage migration projects.

• Ability to manage change control, perform impact assessments, and follow ITIL-based processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications in AIX, Red Hat, or Solaris.

• Experience with PowerHA.

• Knowledge of storage solutions from Huawei/HPE.

• Strong documentation and communication skills.
