The Office of Undergraduate Programs of HKUST Business School serves as a central office in undergraduate student admission, academic affairs & advising, student development & career services. The Office is looking for a capable, compassionate, empathetic, self-motivated and people-oriented team member to promote and enhance students’ overall well-being as well as perform a wide spectrum of administrative duties to sustain the operations of the UG Programs Office on student advising and academic affairs.
The appointee will report to the Associate Dean of the UG Programs Office of SBM and be responsible for (a) coordinating and managing the Habits, Mindsets and Wellness course, including course planning, hosting community meetings, logistics arrangement and overseeing students’ participation in various course components; (b) facilitating meetings/activities with students to enhance their overall well-being and proactive promotion of student well-being through launching wellness and Special Educational Needs (SEN) related learning and development programs; (c) cultivation of a caring and mutually supportive culture across departments/units to address students’ personal needs and enrich student life beyond academic concerns; (d) intervention and stabilization of emotion for students, faculty and staff in crisis situations; and other duties as assigned by supervisors.
As supportive community builders, the appointee is expected to work in close collaboration with academic departments and non-academic offices to help students resolve personal concerns and acquire the coping skills, attitudes, abilities and insights that will enable them to meet the challenges of student life. Irregular working hours may be required.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in psychology, counseling, social work or education with at least 7 years of post-qualification work experience relevant in the area of youth development. A master’s degree with 5 years of relevant work experience will also be considered. They should be fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English. Excellent communication and sophisticated interpersonal skills, knowledge in counseling skills and therapeutic treatment, as well as group work and crisis intervention skills are required. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated ability to work with students at tertiary educational level, and have enthusiasm for enhancing the educational goals for university students. Experience working with students in business schools is a plus. (Duration: 2 years)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
