DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
Scientific Officer / Technical Officer / Assistant Technical Officer (Ref. 250611016-IE)
Duties
The appointee will be responsible for all technical tasks and administrative duties for the Environmental Laboratories / the Water and Waste Laboratory. He/She will also be required to:
(a) supervise laboratory sessions, assist in teaching and support research projects carried out in and/or outside the laboratories / workshops of the Department;
(b) provide assistance to academics in charge of the respective laboratories in the management and development of laboratories;
(c) coordinate teaching and research support activities among the laboratories / workshops of the Department;
(d) work closely with the Departmental Health and Safety Officer and the Laboratory Manager to ensure the safety of the laboratories;
(e) provide support to departmental events, e.g. University Information Day, Orientation Day, etc.; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Scientific Officer post should have a recognised PhD degree in a relevant discipline plus at least five years of solid experience in laboratory operation and management.
Applicants for the Technical Officer post should have a recognised degree in a relevant discipline plus at least five years of solid experience in laboratory operation and management.
Applicants for the Assistant Technical Officer post should have a recognised degree, or a diploma in a relevant discipline plus at least three years of relevant experience;
For all posts, applicants should also:
(a) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua;
(b) have strong analytical skills, and good interpersonal and communication skills; and
(c) be a highly responsible individual.
Preference will be given to those with a valid driving license of class 2 or above.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
