Research Assistant I (Junior Stack Developer) (C2i110-P1)

Applications are invited for appointment asResearch Assistant I(Functional Title: Junior Stack Developer)in the Research Program 1 of the Centre for Immunology & Infection to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge projects involving multi-omics big data analysis, with a focus on immunology, genomics, and translational biomedical research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize internal web servers, APIs, and data pipelines to support research and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with bioinformatics, data science, and laboratory teams to deliver user-friendly, high-performance solutions.
  • Integrate AI/ML models into web applications and data workflows to enhance data analysis and automation.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Participate in DevOps processes, including CI/CD, containerization, and cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in AI, MLOps, and web development.
  • Knowledge of best practices in data security, version control (Git), and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Candidates with 2+ years of professional experience in full-stack web development may be considered for a Research Assistant I.
  • Fresh graduates are typically considered for the Research Assistant II role.
  • Proficiency in front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js, Angular, or Vue.js) and back-end (Python, Node.js, Java, or Go; frameworks such as Django, Express, or Spring Boot) technologies.
  • Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases.
  • Familiarity with Linux server administration and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Hands-on experience or strong interest in AI/ML model integration (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in biotechnology, bioinformatics, or handling scientific/omics data is a strong advantage.
