The Role
Reporting to the Vice-President for Institutional Advancement and the Director of Development and Alumni, the Director of Alumni Affairs will lead the Alumni Team, providing strategic direction and operational oversight for all alumni engagement activities. The appointee will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing strategies to strengthen relationships with alumni locally, in the Chinese Mainland, and internationally.
- Designing and executing programs, events, and communications that foster alumni involvement and pride in HKUST.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with alumni associations, affinity groups, and networks.
- Driving new initiatives to engage recent graduates and cultivate a vibrant alumni community.
- Promoting volunteerism and mentorship opportunities, encouraging alumni to contribute their time and expertise to support students and the University.
- Leveraging data and insights to enhance alumni outreach and measure engagement impact.
- Supervising a team of alumni professionals and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
The Director will play a key role in advancing HKUST's reputation and community spirit by nurturing meaningful alumni connections and celebrating their achievements.
The Candidate
Applicants should possess:
- A bachelor's degree or higher.
- Substantial experience in alumni relations, communications, or stakeholder engagement, preferably within a higher education institution or similar setting.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
- A proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong strategic thinking and project management abilities.
Appointment to the position will be on three-year fixed term contract basis, renewable on mutual agreement. Competitive remuneration and generous fringe benefits, including housing where appropriate, will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
