About the role
We’re seeking an Assistant QA Manager to elevate the quality and reliability of our web/mobile/API products by leading test strategy, driving end-to-end quality processes, and mentoring QA team. You will own risk-based test planning, incident governance, release sign-off, and cross-functional quality advocacy while partnering closely with the Product team, Development team, and Project Management team. Candidates with proven leadership in test transformation and quality metrics will be prioritized.
What you'll be doing:
1) Test strategy and leadership
- Lead requirements analysis and acceptance criteria refinement; author enterprise-grade, risk-based test strategies and master test plans.
- Define quality gates, regression scope, and entry/exit criteria for releases.
- Establish and govern test data strategy, environment readiness, and non-functional test coverage.
2) Test execution, automation, and reporting
- Plan and monitor test execution across web, mobile, and API layers; ensure 100 % traceability.
- Standardize test evidence standards (screenshots, HAR files, logs, video) and automated result dashboards.
- Deliver executive-level quality reports covering coverage, defect trends, escape analysis, and release risk scorecards.
3) Defect and incident governance
- Organize defect triage meeting; enforce SLA-driven prioritization, root-cause classification, and preventive action tracking.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions with different departments.
- Assess business impact, validate hotfixes, and author incident reports when there is a production issue.
4) Team leadership and quality advocacy
- Mentor team of QA Analysts; conduct test design reviews, knowledge sharing, and career development.
- Champion shift-left practices: refine user stories, improve testability.
- Define and track squad-level quality KPIs (defect containment, automation ROI).
- Maintain a living test repository, release checklists, and audit-ready documentation.
What we're looking for:
1) Experience
- 6+ years in software testing with 2+ years in QA lead/supervisory capacity.
- Proven track record of building API test suites (Postman) and mentoring on SQL/log analysis.
- Practical experience with network proxy tools such as Fiddler or Charles Proxy for traffic inspection, manipulation, and debugging.
2) Skills
- Mastery of risk-based test design
- Expert defect storytelling—reproducible steps, business impact quantification, and severity matrices.
- Data-driven leader: fluent in test metrics, funnel analysis, and quality forecasting. Exceptional stakeholder management and fluent business communication in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Nice to have:
● Exposure to automation concepts (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Playwright) for collaboration with SDETs.
● Basic performance testing knowledge (e.g., JMeter, k6, locust)
● Experience with CI/CD awareness to understand build health and test readiness.
● Familiarity with version control (Git) to pull logs or review changes
