Job Description

The capable and self-motivated Assistant Manager is expected to provide assistance to the Director and affiliated members of the Center for Ocean Research in Hong Kong and Macau, to support center development though full-scale administration and management of all aspects of the center operations. Duties include:


    Conduct comprehensive management of the center which includes rendering end-to-end administrative coordination and support to research projects; planning and monitoring project deliverables; compiling data for reports in accordance with the project scope and timeline; and preparing publicity materials/website to promote center developments.

    Oversee the center budget by planning and monitoring budget transaction; assist in project procurement and financial management against the budgetary outline and handle the respective administration in support of the execution of center.

    Plan and execute of logistical decision to field survey in the ocean and events organization, including the promotion of the events, personnel appointment, travel arrangement and scheduling pertaining to the project initiatives.

    Lead the implementation of backend administrative efforts, e.g. drafting of guidelines, ensuring the smooth operation of the office, and supervising officer(s) where applicable.

    Coordinate with vendors on procurement and liaison with both external and internal units for project deliverables.



Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or higher qualification, preferably in scientific management/communication/marketing/education or other related discipline. They should have at least 5 years of post-qualification work experience, preferably in large-scale research or project administration. They should be a good team player, service oriented, able to work independently, and competent with interpersonal and communication skills. They should be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua). Good command of MS Office and spreadsheet skills is also required. Knowledge in use of web will be an advantage. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)



Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
