職位描述

Job responsibilities:

  • Promote acceptance and inclusion of students with learning needs in the classroom and in all areas of school life.

  • Assist students on an individual or small group basis in specific learning areas, under the direction of the Head of Learning Support, Deputy Heads and subject teachers.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students, in line with their specific needs and curriculum requirements

  • Collaborate subject teachers in lesson planning, differentiation and in the preparation of student resources.

  • Provide push-ins support for caseload of SEN students in mainstream classrooms

  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem, confidence, and independence

  • Assist with the communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instructions

  • Participate in team meetings and Continuing Professional Development courses.

  • Assist with the supervision of students in the school grounds, at camps, on excursions, in sporting activities, therapy activities and life skills.

  • Observe students and inform when necessary

  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and evaluation of individual student involvement and achievement.

  • Maintain documented records of student progress, observations, and areas for improvement; communicate case notes to the Learning Support team.

  • Establish positive and professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues to ensure good communication and effective working practices.

  • Action other duties as directed by the Head of Learning Support, Vice Principal or Principal

Requirements for the Learning Support Assistant:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (preferably in Education or a relevant area)

  • Minimum of two years’ experience of working with students with SEN

  • Have knowledge of different learning styles and strategies to support students with diverse needs

  • Ability to build rapport with students aged 11-18

  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills

  • Accountable, flexible, dynamic, displaying a can-do attitude and the ability to proactively propose solutions when facing issues
