Position Description

The position provides professional nursing care to infants and children under Mothers Choice ‘Children’s Services’. It encompasses the promotion of health, prevention and caring of illness, alleviation of suffering and restoration of health. S/he closely collaborates with Child Care, professional team and physician to ensure a quality, consistent and holistic care is provided that will promote healthy growth in each child’s physical and mental development and enable them to reach their full potential and eventually be in a loving family.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess child’s health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care needs, follow up with medical appointments and maintain clear medical records.
• Promote and restore children’s health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members
• Ensure hygienic environment and protect children, families, staff and volunteers by advising, monitoring and adhering to Department of Health guidelines on infection-control policies and protocols,
• Ensure safe medication administration and storage procedures, and adhere to controlled substance regulations.
• Keep clear documentation of medical inventory to date.
• Provides educational and training on child care health and wellbeing to parents, families, staff, and volunteers.
• Set guidelines on standardized basic care of babies, develop, document and audit trainers on maintaining high standardized care,
• Provide staff and volunteers on duty advice and monitor proper infection prevention and control guidelines.
• Keep proper record for accurate handover to existing current nurses
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
• Abide by and adhere to SWD (Social Welfare Department) and Inspectorate checks by ensuring all nursing services and documentation are accurately recorded and well-maintained.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Registered in HK Nursing Board with valid practicing certificate;
• Experience in pediatrics and residential child care service preferred
• Have excellent communication skills that includes liaising with other medical members and staff
• Compassionate, courageous and commitment to excellence
• Able to work independently and good team work
• Good command of spoken and written Chinese and English
• No overnight shift required
• Must share the commitment of Mother’s Choice in upholding the safety and protection of children as paramount
