Commodity Sales Manager / Commodity Trader

Responsibilities

• To achieve sales/trade turnover and profit targets by generating new businesses
• Establish/maintain strong relationship with steel mills and other customers in Asia market
• Develop new businesses within the company’s purchase/sales strategies
• Oversee daily market movement for physical trading operations for raw materials for metallurgical industry (especially Manganese, Silicon, Chromium, Carbon, Aluminium and related products) in the world with special focus on Asia
• Ensure compliance with internal policies on risk management for trade contracts of physical commodities
• Manage relationships with external service providers and internal operations team, to ensure smooth execution of the signed contract
• Prepare regular reports on trading activities, market analysis, and performance metrics
• Perform ad-hoc tasks assigned by the top management from time to time

Requirements

• Positive experience in physical commodity trading in Asia markets, with a focus on precious metals
• Understanding of Asia markets, pricing mechanisms, competition and trade flows
• Experience in trading Manganese Ore & Alloys, Chrome Ore & Alloys, Ferro Silicon, Secondary Aluminium, Carbon, Steel Scrap, Aluminium Scrap or related commodities is an advantage
• Strong relationship and connection with steel mills, aluminium smelters, ferroalloy producers and distributors in Asia is an advantage
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills English and Mandarin (both written and spoken), an additional language is an advantage
• Able to demonstrate self-discipline & self-motivation to operate in a dynamic environment
• Willing to travel
• Good understanding in shipping terms, letters of credit, contract details, ocean freight is an advantage
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions
