Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to join our primary school as an Academic Coordinator. Ideally, the successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematics instruction along with a proven track record in curriculum development and classroom teaching. This role will coordinate academic programs across English, Math, Art, Music, and a unique Project-Based Learning (PBL) course based on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which integrates History, Geography, Science, Art, and Music.


Key Responsibilities

Curriculum and Instructional Leadership

  • Oversee and support high-quality instruction across designated subjects.
  • Review and refine curriculum maps to ensure alignment with learning objectives, subject benchmarks, and IPC standards.
  • Develop and update comprehensive curriculum guides that integrate technology and promote best practices in positive education.
  • Evaluate instructional materials and assessments to maintain rigorous academic standards.


Classroom Observation and Appraisals

  • Conduct regular classroom observations to monitor teaching practices and student engagement.
  • Perform detailed appraisals of teaching staff, providing constructive feedback and professional development recommendations.


Data-Driven Academic Improvement

  • Analyze student assessment data—including MAP assessments—to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement an academic improvement strategy based on data insights, ensuring support for all student demographics.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design targeted interventions, with particular attention to the needs of SEN and ESL students.


Technology Integration and Positive Education

  • Incorporate digital tools and modern technology into classroom teaching to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Implement strategies in positive education to foster social-emotional well-being, resilience, and a growth mindset among students.


Teaching and Extra-Curricular Engagement

  • Maintain a classroom teaching role in one of the core subjects (preferably Mathematics) to stay connected with daily student learning.
  • Lead an afterschool club for a term, fostering an engaging and inclusive environment.
  • Assist in developing programs that support gifted and talented students, offering enrichment opportunities beyond the standard curriculum.


Collaboration and Communication

  • Serve as a key liaison among teaching staff, school leadership, and parents.
  • Communicate proactively with parents on all academic matters, ensuring transparency and shared goals for student success.
  • Organize and lead professional development sessions to share best practices and innovative instructional strategies.
  • Participate in school committees and contribute to broader academic planning and policy development.


Project-Based Learning (PBL) Coordination

  • Oversee the implementation of PBL methodologies in Science, Humanities, History, Geography, Art, and Music courses.
  • Work with teachers to ensure that PBL approaches are effectively integrated in these subjects, recognizing that Math and Chinese follow different instructional models.
  • Offer specialized coaching and support for educators employing PBL strategies, sharing innovative ideas and best practices.

Person Specification

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum five (5) years of successful classroom (or similar) teaching experience.
  • Native fluency in English.
  • Current teaching certification or licensure.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.


Preferred Qualifications

  • M.A. or M.Ed.
  • Experience teaching PYP, IPC, project-based learning, Reggio Emilia, or similar programs.
  • Specialist certification.
  • Ability to teach other content areas (arts, coding, PE, etc.).


Employment Details

    • or any other person as the Company may decide
