Chemistry Teacher (Starting from August 2025)

Job Summary

Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons in General Science (KS3) and Chemistry (GCSE & A-Level). Additionally, the successful candidate will take on the role of a form tutor, providing pastoral support and guidance to a group of students.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

• Develop and deliver a rigorous curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

• Assess, record, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.

• Create a stimulating and safe classroom environment that fosters learning.

• Promote a passion for Chemistry through innovative teaching methods and practical experiments.

• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Science curriculum and participate in departmental meetings.

• Stay updated with the latest developments in Chemistry and education, integrating new ideas into teaching practices.

Form Tutor Responsibilities

• Act as the primary pastoral contact for a designated tutor group, monitoring their academic progress and well-being.

• Deliver PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) education and mentor students on personal development.

• Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.

• Support students in setting academic and personal targets, encouraging a positive attitude toward learning.

• Attend and contribute to year group meetings and whole-school pastoral initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• A valid teaching qualification for secondary education.

• Proven experience teaching KS3 Science and GCSE & A-Level Chemistry.

• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Chemistry and the Sciences.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.

• Experience with innovative teaching strategies and assessment methods.

• Experience with project-based learning and inquiry-based teaching methods.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills.

• Adaptability and a willingness to embrace new technologies and teaching approaches.
