Job Summary
Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons in General Science (KS3) and Chemistry (GCSE & A-Level). Additionally, the successful candidate will take on the role of a form tutor, providing pastoral support and guidance to a group of students.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum

Develop and deliver a rigorous curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

Assess, record, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.

Create a stimulating and safe classroom environment that fosters learning.

Promote a passion for Chemistry through innovative teaching methods and practical experiments.

Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Science curriculum and participate in departmental meetings.

Stay updated with the latest developments in Chemistry and education, integrating new ideas into teaching practices.
Form Tutor Responsibilities
-
Act as the primary pastoral contact for a designated tutor group, monitoring their academic progress and well-being.

Deliver PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) education and mentor students on personal development.

Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.

Support students in setting academic and personal targets, encouraging a positive attitude toward learning.

Attend and contribute to year group meetings and whole-school pastoral initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
-
A valid teaching qualification for secondary education.

Proven experience teaching KS3 Science and GCSE & A-Level Chemistry.

Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Chemistry and the Sciences.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.

Experience with innovative teaching strategies and assessment methods.

Experience with project-based learning and inquiry-based teaching methods.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.
