JOB DESCRIPTION
Discovery College is looking for a Chinese Educational Assistant in the Secondary Department in August - October 2024 as a temporary part-time cover.
Job Summary
The main role of the Educational Assistant (EA) is to support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum. They work with students and collaborate with colleagues to meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. EAs support teaching and learning for a range of student abilities and classes. They engage in critical reflection in order to improve their knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning.
Main Accountabilities
- Use your own professional role to ensure that the College is able to deliver on the 5 DC Outcomes for every student
- Assist in the educational and social development of students
- Assist in the implementation and planning of Individual Education Programmes for students and the monitoring of students’ academic progress
- Support students in class settings including all academic subjects and all aspects of PE including swimming and field sports
- Assist students to access the curriculum safely, under the guidance of teaching staff
- Assist teaching staff in preparing teaching resources
- Assist in the maintaining of student records
- Support students with emotional/behavioural problems and help develop their social skills/behaviours, including the implementation of behaviour modification programmes when required
Requirements
Minimum typical education
- At least 2 years GCSE (pass A-C) or equivalent in Math and English
- At least level 2 of the English national qualifications framework
Minimum typical experience
- Relevant experiences in schools are preferred but not essential
Abilities
- Fluent in Chinese and English
- Ability to work effectively with individual students, small groups and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher
- Contribute to a range of teaching and learning activities
Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
