Position Overview:
Our client is a leading insurance-based asset manager and a joint venture of two global leading financial institutions with sizable AUM and is a well-established platform.
To cope with expansion, they are hiring Investment Insurance Solutions Specialist to join their Fixed Income Investment Team.
Investment Insurance Solutions Specialist (VP Grade)
The role Investment Insurance Solutions Specialist reports to the Head of Fixed Income Investment within the captive asset management company.
Key Responsibilities
Investment & Asset-Liability Advisory

Deliver sophisticated asset allocation, investment strategy, and asset-liability management (ALM) advisory tailored to Hong Kong-based insurance companies, focusing on HKRBC-driven investment mandates across diverse asset classes.

Optimize investment portfolios by balancing capital flow requirements, risk-return profiles, liquidity needs, and HKRBC regulatory constraints to enhance capital efficiency
Insurance Product Development
-
Provide expertise in product structuring for affiliated Hong Kong insurers, ensuring alignment with HKRBC capital efficiency, profitability, and regulatory compliance.

Leverage ALM techniques, with a strong emphasis on HKRBC considerations, to enhance product design and integrate investment strategies that support the company's mandate.
Regulatory & Market Insights

Advise on Hong Kong-specific regulatory frameworks (e.g., Hong Kong Insurance Authority guidelines, HKRBC requirements), accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 9 and IFRS17), and tax implications impacting insurance investments.

Monitor global insurance investment trends and alternative asset opportunities, with a focus on HKRBC-driven portfolio optimization for Hong Kong-based insurers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with internal teams (investment, compliance, distribution, etc.) within the captive structure to develop customized insurance solutions that align with the mandate for Hong Kong-based insurance companies.

Ensure seamless execution by aligning strategies with legal, risk, operational, and HKRBC requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Mandate Growth

Engage closely with affiliated Hong Kong-based insurance companies through exceptional client-facing skills, including clear communication, active listening, and relationship-building, to understand their business needs and deliver HKRBC-focused tailored solutions.

Proactively identify opportunities to expand the mandate and drive long-term growth within the captive asset management framework by leveraging strong presentation and negotiation skills to foster trust and collaboration.
Job Requirements

5+ years of experience in asset management, insurance actuary, Big 4 or reputable consultancy firms within a captive or similar structure, with a focus on HKRBC-driven insurance investment solutions and ALM strategies for Hong Kong-based insurers.

Hands-on experience in designing and implementing investment & ALM strategies under HKRBC for Hong Kong insurers; exposure to regional/global insurers or reinsurers is a plus.

Deep understanding of life insurance business models in Hong Kong, including regulatory frameworks (e.g., HKIA, HKRBC, IFRS 17, Solvency II), accounting standards, and fund/insurance regulations.

Strong familiarity with local insurance liabilities, HKRBC capital optimization strategies, and risk-based capital management.

Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, MBA, or actuarial qualifications (e.g., FSA, ASA) are highly preferred.

Fluent in English (written and spoken) is mandatory, with excellent client-facing communication skills to articulate complex investment strategies clearly and persuasively.

Proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese is a strong advantage for engaging with Hong Kong-based stakeholders, enhancing client interactions and relationship management.

Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships through empathy, active listening, and tailored solution delivery.

Exceptional presentation and negotiation skills to effectively communicate HKRBC-driven investment strategies and foster long-term client trust and engagement.
