Hospital Dental Officer (Full-time/Part-time) (MPS Point 30-44, $71,010-119,650)

Entry Requirements:

(a)    Persons who are qualified to practise dentistryin Hong Kong under Full Registration as stipulated in the Dentists Registration Ordinance and Dentists Registration (Amendment) Ordinance 2024 (Cap 156, Hong Kong Laws);

(b)    At least 3 years’ post qualification experience (clinical experience gained from postgraduate studies will also be recognised). General Dentistry is also preferred;

(c)    Possess a valid practising certificate issued by The Dental Council of Hong Kong;

(d)    A member of a medical defence organisation such as the Medical Protection Society;

(e)    Possess a valid Licence for Use of Irradiating Apparatus on Human Body; and

(f)     Have good command of English and be able to communicate in Chinese.

Major Duties:           

(a)     Patient screening;

(b)     Supervision of the screening of patients and treatments by the Hospital Training Support Dental Officers and provisionally registered dentists under the Dental Internship Programme;

(c)     Supervision and conducting assessments for students of the Hospital’s para-dental training programmes;

(d)     Delivery of emergency treatments, comprehensive dental care and provision of oral health education;

(e)     Assisting to handle patient complaints and conduct clinical audit as and when necessary; and

(f)     Any other duties as assigned by senior officers.

Note:Priority may be given to candidates who can work on a full-time basis.

Package:For appointment on full-time basis, successful candidate be required to work 5 days a week, with 18 days’ annual leave and medical/ dental benefits. He/she will be offered appointment at the entry point, MPS Point 30 ($71,010) per month with a two-year contract which is renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and service need. An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Hospital's contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485), equals to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

                       For appointment on part-time basis, successful candidate will be offered appointment at $2,070 per a four-hour session with a one-year fixed term contract which is renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and service need. Allocation of session will determined in the light of operational requirements from 4 sessions to 8 sessions per week. Paid annual leave and statutory leave would only be offered to candidate who is working 5 or more sessions per week.
