職位描述

The Run Run Shaw Library of the City University of Hong Kong is seeking a suitable candidate to assist in cataloguing and managing library resources to support the teaching, learning, and research activities of the University community in a dynamic academic environment.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

  1. Perform descriptive and subject cataloguing, including original and copy cataloguing of library resources in various formats (print, electronic, multimedia) and languages in accordance with international standards and in-house policies;
  2. Create and enhance bibliographic and authority records in the Shared Integrated Library System;
  3. Contribute new or updated bibliographic and authority records to OCLC and the LC/NACO Name Authority File, respectively;
  4. Participate in the evaluation of cataloguing procedures and policies to improve the efficiency of work;
  5. Prepare administrative and statistical reports;
  6. Supervise support staff; and
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree or above with at least 2 years of work experience, preferably with qualification in Library Science or related discipline;
  2. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  3. Proficiency in MS Office and Chinese word processing;
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  5. Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and organisational skills;
  6. Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively and collegially with colleagues; and
  7. Knowledge of the latest cataloguing rules and standards, such as RDA, MARC21, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and Library of Congress Classification, are preferred.
  8. Prior Experience in an academic or research library setting with integrated library systems would be an advantage.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test and interview.

The appointee will be required to work at our off-campus offices in Ngau Tau Kok.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
