Executive Officer I/II in the Department of Physics (Appointment for 4 months) [Ref.: T/117/25]

Duties

  1. Ensure the smooth operation of academic programmes, covering student recruitment, admissions, student records, assessments, and student matters related to taught postgraduate and research students;
  2. Coordinate the programme and course updates of the MSc degree programme;
  3. Manage PhD degree programmes (including arrangements for curriculum co-ordination, course scheduling, qualifying examination, thesis submission, and oral defense);
  4. Provide full support to committee servicing;
  5. Manage various scholarship and fellowship nomination submission processes and related reporting;
  6. Manage publicity of the Department, including Student Orientation, Information Day, and website updating;
  7. Organise activities for current students; and
  8. Perform any other duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ relevant post-qualification working experience, preferably in the tertiary education sector;
  2. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  3. Proficiency in IT skills (including MS Office and Excel);
  4. Good organisational, problem-solving and communication skills with a strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail; and
  5. A sense of self-motivation, with the ability to take up new initiatives and work independently under tight deadlines are required.
  6. Prior work experience in postgraduate programme management would be an advantage.

Candidates with more than 7 years’ relevant work experience may be considered for appointment as Executive Officer I.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
