Duties

The appointee will join a collaborative team responsible for the development, support and management of the campus network infrastructure.  The main duty areas include, but are not limited to, system/infrastructure/service design, service and project management, and service provisioning.  He/She will be required to:

(a) lead the Wi-Fi team in design, implementation, and support of campus Wi-Fi projects;

(b) manage day-to-day Wi-Fi operations, maintenance, and incident handling to ensure reliable and high-quality Wi-Fi service;

(c) play a pivotal role in IT projects related to network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, wired networks, and cyber security;

(d) stay informed on network technology advancement and recommend updates to meet the University’s needs;

(e) collaborate with internal units and external contractors on network infrastructure installation and maintenance;

(f) perform scheduled maintenance works during non-office hours if required; 

(g) maintain standardised documentation, including operational manuals, procedural documents and network diagrams;

(h) communicate effectively with management and business stakeholders; and

(i) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline;

(b) at least eight years of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably with at least five years of experience in operating the Wi-Fi systems (1000+ APs, preferably of Aruba) in campus or large organizations; 

(c) extensive experience in designing and implementing Wi-Fi systems in campus or large organizations;

(d) proven experience and expertise in managing BGP and OSPF networks;

(e) proven experience and expertise in network infrastructure design, network systems and administration, including firewalls, VPNs and load balancers;

(f) a forward-thinking mindset to optimise network systems for long-term success;

(g) strong problem-solving skills with an analytical mind; 

(h) excellent interpersonal and communication skills as a team player; and

(i) the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
