Harrow International School Hong Kong is the first international boarding and day school in Hong Kong. Job Title: Teacher of Physical Education (Maternity Cover)

Contract Period:  January to May 2026

Education is ever-changing and all staff are expected to participate constructively in school activities and to adopt a flexible approach to their work. This job description will be reviewed regularly and may be varied in light of the business needs of the school.


Specific aims and key responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated PE lessons that promote academic excellence and leadership development.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and assessment strategies.
  • Lead and support sports teams, fixtures, and house events.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings and teaching observation programmes.
  • Support the pastoral care of students, including tutoring responsibilities.
  • Maintain high standards of classroom management and student behaviour.
  • Ensure proper care and management of PE equipment and facilities.
  • Engage in school-wide CPD and contribute to the Harrow Horizons programme.
  • Undertake duties as reasonably requested by the Head of School or their delegate.

Requirements

  • A good Honours degree in Physical Education or a closely related subject, along with a recognised postgraduate teaching qualification (including QTS).
  • Proven experience as an excellent classroom teacher, with a strong track record of delivering high academic and sporting outcomes.
  • Experience teaching in Lower School and a specialism in Gymnastics, Basketball, Badminton, or Volleyball is desirable.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, with the ability to contribute effectively to departmental planning and delivery.
  • A genuine passion for sport and commitment to innovative teaching practices that engage and challenge students.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to co-curricular and house events.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to the wellbeing and holistic development of pupils.
