Subtitle Editor | Translation | Media Subtitling

The Subtitle Editor roleis responsible for translating, subtitling videos and related materials from English/Korean/Japanese into Traditional Chinese, conducting proofreading for the translation files, and providing coaching for freelancers.
This role will work with a variety of different types of scripts for a range of local and international clients.

Capabilities & Skills

• Demonstrate a proficient level of language skill in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin (both writing and listening).
• Strong and consistent communication skills to build and nurture relationships with freelancers, rewriters, project managers and operational leadership as required to assist in meeting our delivery fulfilment deadlines
• Language curiosity, to take responsibility and ownership of staying up to date with culture, media and language of the target area
• Able to provide a strong delivery and operational leadership with an eye for detail.
• Edit text to established reading speeds, retaining the content and flavour of the source material, whilst ensuring that subtitles stay synchronised with the soundtrack and allow adequate access to picture and graphic
• Ad hoc as assigned

Requirements

• Degree holder in Translation, Journalism, Language or related disciplines
• Practical work experience in media translation or proofreading is a MUST
• Excellent command of both written and oral Chinese, English and Mandarin
• Knowledge in other languages (especially in Korean or Japanese) would be an advantage
• Strong sense of responsibility, able to work independently under minimum supervision
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and within limited time constraints
• Immediate available is highly preferred
