Product Development Lead (Softgoods)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Lead Product/Material Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in driving product development from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with market trends and brand identity.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive trend and market research to develop products and materials that resonate with our brand ethos;

- Provide clear and actionable product development directions to the technical team and vendors for sample execution;

- Collaborate closely with yarn and fabric mills, as well as garment factories or any external parties, throughout the fabric and garment sample development process;

- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding material development, product development, including conducting sample presentations;

- Organize and lead product meetings, presenting innovative ideas to customers independently;

- Guide and mentor vendor R&D teams to deliver products that inspire and meet customer needs;

- Proactively generate new product ideas tailored to the specific requirements of individual brands and customers;

- Maintain close communication with vendors to gather relevant market intelligence that benefits our customers;

- Assist with ad hoc projects as needed to support the team and business objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Textile & Clothing, Fashion, Apparel Design, or a related field;

- Minimum of 8 years of industry experience especially in knitting technology, material innovation, experience in overseas markets is preferred;

- Strong in-depth knowledge of knit fabrics and the ability to translate market trend and clients’ expectation into commercially viable products;

- Solid understanding of fabric intelligence and innovation;

- Curiosity to create and propose new yarn, knitting techniques and materials;

- Ability to thrive under pressure while coordinating with multiple stakeholders to meet project deadlines;

- Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese;

- Proficient in MS Office, PLM, and graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with 3D software is a plus;

- Willingness to travel frequently to Mainland China.
