PRODUCT DEVELOPER-TRAVEL BAGS & ACCESSORIES

Role Overview:

Pacsafe is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Product Developer to lead the development of travel bags and accessories, including backpacks and crossbody bags. This role is key in transforming design concepts into commercially viable products by working closely with factories, managing product costs, and ensuring alignment with brand standards and target pricing. Occasional travel is required for this role. Experience in luggage development is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development & Execution

- Manage the full product development lifecycle from concept to production.
- Collaborate with design and factories to execute design ideas into functional prototypes.
- Work directly with factories to communicate design intent and resolve development challenges.
- Ensure timely sample development and revisions based on feedback.
- Ensure product feasibility, quality, and alignment with brand identity.

Cost Management

- Develop products that meet target cost and margin requirements.
- Review and approve BOMs and cost breakdowns from factories before submission to management.
- Negotiate with suppliers and factories to optimize cost without compromising quality.
- Track and manage product costing throughout development stages.

PLM Data Management

- Maintain accurate product specifications, BOMs, and technical details in the PLM system.
- Update Tech pack,  QC pack, Packaging instructions
- Ensure data consistency across development stages and support internal teams with documentation.

Material Knowledge & Sourcing

- Demonstrate strong understanding of textile and material properties, including performance, durability, and environmental impact.
- Collaborate with design team to select appropriate materials that align with brand standards, cost targets, and sustainability goals.
- Explore innovative, sustainable materials and support the implementation of transparency frameworks.
- Maintain awareness of global material trends, certifications, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with material suppliers to ensure quality, traceability, and ethical sourcing practices.

Trend & Market Awareness

- Stay informed on travel gear trends, consumer needs, and competitive products.
- Contribute to seasonal planning and innovation discussions.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Textiles, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in product development, preferably in bags, travel gear, or accessories.
- Experience working directly with factories and managing product costing.
- Proficiency in Adobe illustrator
- Familiarity with PLM systems and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of materials, construction, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Fluent in English; Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus.
- Experience in luggage development is a strong advantage.
