The school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic candidate for the role of Educational Assistant - RTI, Full-time. The successful candidate will join the Response To Intervention (RTI) team and work closely with the RTI Coordinators and Literacy Lead Teachers. It is likely that the successful candidate will likely work with students with literacy needs, from Year 7 through to Year 13.  The successful candidate will work 5 days a week from 8:00am to 3:30pm (may work longer sometimes for collaboration – typically until 5pm on Mondays).

Roles and Responsilbilities

  • The majority of your time will be spent supporting mainstream students in literacy classes
  • You will be working in different scenarios, including providing one-to-one support, small group support, and in-class support.
  • You will be providing different types of support, including academic and executive function skills.
  • Your timetable will be flexible and change throughout the year, to meet the changing needs of students at different times.
  • You may be asked to attend training courses as needed.
  • You may also have other roles/duties assigned from time to time, depending on the students’ needs at specific times of the school year.

Requirements, Qualities & Skills

  • Strong spoken and written English is essential.
  • Strong ICT skills, particularly with Google Suite applications (Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Calendar, Meet, etc.).
  • Strong organisation, time-management and communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changes quickly and easily.
  • Able to work independently and proactively.
  • Able to emphasise with students and adapt approaches to each student at different times.

Advantageous but not essential skills

  • Prior experience with the IB Diploma, BTEC and (I)GCSE curriculums and MYP framework
  • Prior experience supporting and working with students
  • Prior BML (bi-lingual and multilingual learners) and/ or literacy experience
