Job Description


 
Major Duties:
The appointee is expected to contribute to the planning, development, implementation and review of the Master of Science (MSc) in Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management programme.  The Programme aims to equip students with advanced management skills relevant to the digital innovation and technologies in tourism and hospitality industry, including digital marketing strategies, data-driven ESG and sustainable tourism, and digital-enabled quality service management.
 
The appointee will need to provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; curriculum development in at least one of the following modules:
-    ICT in Tourism & Hospitality;
-    Essential Technology Competencies for Tourism & Hospitality Practitioners;
-    Quality Service Management in Digital Age;
-    Technology Solution for Sustainable Tourism;
-    Digital Business Strategy & Transformation;
-    Cyber Security in Business;
-    Digital Marketing;
-    Research Methods & Data Analytics in Tourism;
-    Capstone Applied Project;
-    Ethics in a Digital World;
-    Tourism & Hospitality Revenue Management;
-    Innovations in the Global Tourism & Hospitality Industry; and
-    Strategic Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Business Intelligence & Analytics.
      
The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering quality programme; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the Institute and the programme.  S/he will also be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutes on collaborative arrangement to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programme.  Experience in the new programme development and accreditation is highly preferred.
 
The appointee will provide face-to-face and potentially online instruction at the graduate or undergraduate level in both Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management and related courses as well as maintaining a record of excellence in teaching, student advising and career mentoring.  The appointee at Professor / Associate Professor rank will be required to oversee the MSc and related programmes and be heavily involved in the accreditation exercise.
      
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management or related area, with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrate achievement (or good potential for achievement) in research and scholarly activities, and experience in professional practice in the relevant fields; and have high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua.  S/he must also fulfil one of the following criteria:
(a)    Mother tongue / language is Putonghua; or
(b)    Received a recognised bachelor’s degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c)    At least 3 years’ work experience in Mainland China or other Putonghua speaking countries or regions; or
(d)    Achieved at least Grade 2 Level B in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) - Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission on Language Work.
      
Notes:
(1)    The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2)    The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3)    The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus.
