Job Description

Job Purpose:

The core purpose of this role is to provide professional input to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPS) Unit. S/he works closely with the Clinical Psychologist cum Service in-charge, MHPS, to lead development and execution of MH emergency service, community psychoeducation and psychological first aid training to support the HKRC in delivering its humanitarian services to fulfill its vision and mission. S/he will ensure effective implementation of the strategies and drive implementation and action to achieve the departmental goal to improving the wellness of vulnerable people in an effective and efficient way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPS) technical input to the development, execution and evaluation of the emergency services, psychoeducational materials, and training for ensuring the quality in addressing the needs of the local community;

  • Provide clinical consultations to those affected by various crises and accidents and provide supervision to staff and volunteers to ensure service quality; 

  • Develop Psychological First Aid (PFA) for All curriculum and conduct MHPS trainings and training of trainers’ courses to internal staff and volunteers, as well as external parties including responders in crises like social workers, disaster responders, and personnel in education sector, healthcare professionals, governmental departments, NGOs and aviation community;

  • Act as the technical focal point of mental health and psychosocial projects in the agency and support in the MHPSS program in the Asia Pacific region if needed;

  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s) from time to time.

 

Requirements:

  • Master or doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and Registered Clinical Psychologist at the “Hong Kong Institute of Clinical Psychologists (HKICP)” preferred; or Master or doctorate degree in Education Psychology and Registered Education Psychologist of the “Hong Kong Association of Educational Psychologists (HKAEP)” preferred; or Master or doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology and Registered Counseling Psychologist of the “Hong Kong Psychological Society” preferred;

  • Two years or above of post-education related experiences is preferred; fresh Graduate will also be considered;

  • Knowledge and clinical skills in conducting psychological assessment and intervention in a spectrum of psychopathologies, including post-traumatic stress and related mental disorders;

  • Familiarity with intervention and tools in mental health and psychosocial support in emergency, eg. Psychological First Aid;

  • Excellent presentation and adult training skills;

  • Commendable training/facilitation skills and knowledge of adult education;

  • Excellent skills in community work and social networking;

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese (including Putonghua) & English.
