Technician (Ref. 24000106) (Closing date: April 30, 2024)

The appointee will be responsible for (a) monitoring and handling laboratory safety issues related to chemicals or gas cylinders; (b) managing and maintaining special equipment, such as SEM, XRD, etc.; (c) providing technical support and safety briefing for teaching and research laboratories, laboratory courses and student projects (including equipment purchase and provision of daily hand-on services); and (d) performing other tasks as assigned. On-the-job training will be provided.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology or a related discipline from a recognized University or technical institute; (ii) knowledge of chemical handling and disposal; (iii) knowledge of wet laboratory safety and maintains; (iv) fundamental knowledge of materials characterization; and (v) good interpersonal skills and sense of responsibility. Related work experience in managing teaching or technical laboratories will be advantageous.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
