Job Description
Education is ever-changing and all staff are expected to participate constructively in school activities and to adopt a flexible approach to their work. Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified. The post holder will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from the line manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description. This job description will be reviewed regularly and may be varied in light of the business needs of the school.
Specific aims and key responsibilities of this position are:
- Supporting teachers by utilising strategies to engage pupils in developing communications skills
- Liaising closely with class teachers and providing feedback on pupil progress
- Assisting the Spanish and French Department in coordinating or promoting Super-curriculum and Co-curricular activities in Spanish and French
- Participating in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance and develop skills as a Teaching Assistant
Supporting learning in the classroom by:
- Liaising with the Spanish and French teaching staff regarding resource development
- Having high expectations of pupil behaviour both inside and outside the classroom
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure lessons are well planned and supported and to ensure pupil learning is well supported
Administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
- Attending department and staff meetings as required
- Carrying out administrative tasks to a high standard to support the Languages team
- Communicating efficiently and in a timely fashion with the Spanish and French Departments, Languages Department and wider school
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues and outside the Languages Faculty
Other responsibilities:
- Implementing safeguarding procedures at the School
- Undertaking duties as the Head of School or a delegated representative may reasonably request.
Person Specification
- Higher diploma or above; fluent in English, Spanish, and French
- Strong communication, organisational, administrative, and IT skills
- Able to translate Harrow Hong Kong’s vision into actionable outcomes
- Collaborative, discreet, culturally sensitive, and personable
- Energetic, flexible, creative, and committed to professional growth
- High standards in presentation, integrity, and alignment with school ethos
