Job Title: Teacher of Science (Contract)
Contract Period: January to December 2026

Education is ever-changing and all staff are expected to participate constructively in school activities and to adopt a flexible approach to their work. Specific aims and key responsibilities:
Supporting pupil learning and academic development by:
-
Delivering engaging and differentiated Science lessons across Prep, IGCSE, and A Level
-
Setting high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
-
Using effective assessment strategies and providing feedback to pupils and parents
-
Encouraging academic curiosity and independent learning
Collaborating with the Science Department by:
-
Contributing to curriculum planning and resource development
-
Participating in teaching observations and sharing best practices
-
Supporting departmental Super-curriculum and Co-curricular activities
-
Assisting with pupil guidance on subject choices and university applications
Contributing to pastoral care and wider school life by:
-
Serving as a Tutor in a day or boarding House
-
Supporting pupil wellbeing and implementing safeguarding procedures
-
Participating in evening supervision duties (if assigned to a boarding House)
-
Engaging in school trips and residentials
Administrative and professional responsibilities include:
-
Attending departmental and staff meetings
-
Completing administrative tasks to support the Science Department
-
Participating in CPD and school-wide professional development programmes
-
Contributing to the Harrow Horizons co-curricular programme
Other responsibilities:

Undertaking duties as reasonably requested by the Head of School or delegated representative
Requirements
-
A good Honours degree in Science or a closely related subject, along with a recognised postgraduate teaching qualification (including QTS).

Proven experience as an excellent classroom teacher, with a strong track record of delivering high academic outcomes.

Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic department, with the ability to inspire and support colleagues.

Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, with the ability to manage departmental responsibilities effectively.

A genuine passion for Biology and commitment to innovative teaching practices that engage and challenge students.

A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to the wellbeing and holistic development of pupils.
